Agh, it's happened!!!

Well Edmonton - are you happy? now you're being critisized by CALGARY!!!! I never thought I'd see the day that Calgary would come out on a higher horse than Edmonton! and be right! sigh! This was on 630 Ched:

CALGARY/630 CHED - Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier says Edmonton should be embarrassed by the boorish behaviour of its citizens following the Edmonton Oiler's ascension to the Stanley Cup final.

On Saturday, thousands of people partied around the trendy Whyte Avenue area of the city, smashing store windows, knocking over phone booths and lighting bonfires on the streets.

Dave Bronconnier calls the behaviour disgraceful, saying it doesn't send a good message of what Edmonton is all abut.

Good grief, is Edmonton trying for the Redneck of the World reputation? Whyte Avenue used to be one of the coolest parts of the city, it's sad that it's now become one of the biggest trash strips ever! And for that, the mayor can thank his council members for allowing every other former shop to be turned into another cheap hole-in-the-wall bar.

First I have to start off a bit negative and say that I really hate everything PC ! there is no common sense to it and it only suits a small core of small minded hypocrites! What gets me really angry is the push to ban Christmas from western countries! The tradition of celebrating Christmas goes back centuries. Calgary vs Edmonton

I've never taken the rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary too seriously! they both have their positives and negatives! Of course I'm biased towards Edmonton because that's where I'm from. I've even had friendly banter with Calgarians during my various travels. I used to always think the rivalry between the cities was light-hearted. But I will NEVER forget the time I was in Calgary and watching this Calgary charity event on tv. Someone from Edmonton phoned in and made a generous donation, and as soon as they got off the phone - the Calgarians running this charity show completely ridiculed Edmonton and laughed about the person that made the donation. I was shocked! my Aussie husband was with me, and he was completely disgusted!!! that's when we knew that most of Calgary has a very mean-spirited view about it's friendly neighbours to the North!!
