Agh, it's happened!!!

Well Edmonton - are you happy? now you're being critisized by CALGARY!!!! I never thought I'd see the day that Calgary would come out on a higher horse than Edmonton! and be right! sigh! This was on 630 Ched: Calgary Mayor Shames Whyte. Behaviour May, 30 2006 - 6:20 AM CALGARY/630 CHED - Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier says Edmonton should be embarrassed by the boorish behaviour of its citizens following the Edmonton Oiler's ascension to the Stanley Cup final. On Saturday, thousands of people partied around the trendy Whyte Avenue area of the city, smashing store windows, knocking over phone booths and lighting bonfires on the streets. Dave Bronconnier calls the behaviour disgraceful, saying it doesn't send a good message of what Edmonton is all abut. Edmonton civic leaders yesterday debated ways to help control unruly hockey fans

Edmonton - what are you doing?

Well I'm hearing all this news lately about a bunch of idiots in Edmonton that are acting like nitwit hooligans in the streets causing lots of damage after big hockey games! please don't do that! Don't you know that everytime you carry on like that, you give ammunition to rival cities! (one notably to the South) You obviously can't handle the amount of alcohol you drink, so maybe lay off!!! (or grow a brain!) Can I say for the record that most Edmontonians are really great people ! intelligent, nice, funny etc! those fools doing all that damage lately are probably in-breds that have come to Edmonton from other parts of Canada!! ! Okay that was a bit mean! but it's hard for me to believe that the city I love so much has such a large number of losers! but it's really only about 0.00001% of the population that are like that! but they always say the squeeky wheel gets the grease, so that's the case here too! they are causing Edmonton to get some unwanted notori...

Blame Game!

There was a very tragic and sad event that's been on the news lately - about 3 little boys ranging from 8-10 who got hit and killed by a train in Brisbane the other evening. That it happened is very heartbreaking! And that there are questions asked is very understandable! but I read in the Age website "Ms Gater said many people were questioning why police, who had cautioned the trio not to stand too close to the edge of the platform, had not asked the children why they were out alone at night and taken them home."I know the police are not baby-sitters ... but each and every one of us has a duty of care in our community," she said."My question is who is looking after the children?" . She asked a very good question but there was no comment what-so-ever about the parents, and so I was thinking - why was it up to the police to be "looking after the children"! I think it's a damned if you do, and damned if you don't situation for the police - i...

Calgary vs Edmonton

I've never taken the rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary too seriously! they both have their positives and negatives! Of course I'm biased towards Edmonton because that's where I'm from. I've even had friendly banter with Calgarians during my various travels. I used to always think the rivalry between the cities was light-hearted. But I will NEVER forget the time I was in Calgary and watching this Calgary charity event on tv. Someone from Edmonton phoned in and made a generous donation, and as soon as they got off the phone - the Calgarians running this charity show completely ridiculed Edmonton and laughed about the person that made the donation. I was shocked! my Aussie husband was with me, and he was completely disgusted!!! that's when we knew that most of Calgary has a very mean-spirited view about it's friendly neighbours to the North!! I get mad even to this day when I think about that incident! that's the height of ungraciousness and it's ...

Canberra Drivers

I didn't really want to start off right away by ranting, but I must comment on the bad drivers in this city!!! I consider myself a VERY good driver! I'm courteous , I stick to the rules, I do the speed limit..mostly (okay sometime the accelerator pedal gets a bit heavy), etc. But in this city - omigosh they make me mad almost every day! There are 3 main groups - the smallest group are the decent drivers, then you have the dawdlers who think it's perfectly acceptable to go 10 or 20 kms under the speed limit during rush hour. Then there's the maniacs who think they are in the grand-prix - cutting people off, tailgating etc! Now the last two groups never understand the merge concept, they speed up if someone is safely trying to move to their lane, they don't get round-about rules (aka: traffic circles) etc. NO ONE ever thanks people for letting them in - I've seen less than a handful do that in the 11 years I've lived here. Oh the list goes on! Basically...

I'm someone who even gets excited about doing surveys for companies, so this is really great! I have so much to say! but this is all I'll say for now! Talk again soon! :)
